Pride Month at Mercatus
Here at Mercatus, we believe in creating a place of belonging. Mercatus is committed to building a diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible workplace. As an organization driven by humanist principles, we have an IDEA team which is an employee-led inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility group that ensures everyone feels welcomed, safe and accepted. We believe actions speak louder than words for the community.
For pride month we are partnered with The 519 to provide more learning opportunities in the organization. We welcomed guest speakers, Danielle Araya, and Jo Jefferson for:
- CHANGING THE FORECAST: Becoming a Fierce Advocate for 2SLGBTQ+ Communities
- FACING THE WEATHER: Making Your Workplace a 2 Spirit, Queer, and Trans-Affirming Space and how to create a collaborative company culture that supports and encourages our people
This year’s Summer Social, held in the middle of June at Boxcar Social, the Mercatus Culture Team organized an event filled with a performance by Ms. Shay Dee, great music provided by DJ Brice Sopher, Food courtesy of the Boxcar Social and Rosie’s, as well as our very own Mercatus Pride cocktail to celebrate the occasion.
In addition to our partnership, Mercatus is making a financial contribution to The 519 for them to be able to continue to do great community work.
We know that together we can make working and collaborating at Mercatus a rewarding experience for all by having an inclusive and supportive space where people can bring their best and most authentic selves to work.
